We've been working hard since June creating new habits and performing self-inquiry, now it's time to take a break to treat yo'self!
Today's New Moon in Scorpio and Mercury turning retrograde on Thursday can have us feeling some type of way. Let's hang on to that last bit of luxe Libra energy this week which will hopefully provide a softer cushion for us as we prepare for the intensity that this month will bring.
This post was inspired by my favorite red and black Old Navy flannel pajamas aka my husband's least favorite piece of clothing. I wear them 2 sizes too big and they're the softest, comfiest ever but admittedly, they are pure man repellent.
While shopping in California last week, I ran across the most darling Ugg pj set (not a sponsored link or post). I loved them but don't usually spend $100 on jammies so I didn't buy them. Well, I couldn't stop thinking about them and started adding up in mind how much time I spend in my pajamas - aka my huge checkered flannel man repellers. A lot. I actually spend as much time as possible in my "comfies." They're the first thing I put on when I get home and I live in them until I have to leave the house again.
You can probably see where this story is going - I went back to the store about three hours later and bought them and have not once regretted it. I ended up wearing the entire set to yoga the morning of our wedding and have been able to mix and match the set seamlessly, even wearing the top with yoga pants for our red-eye flight back. Spending $100 on pj's was a splurge for me but considering how much time I live in comfortable clothes, the value to me is justified. I now look forward to looking at least a bit cuter at home! And my husband really appreciates that they actually fit me and have a more feminine style as opposed to my old faithful flannel (which may even be men's pj's LOL).
The moral of this story is that a little bit of luxury can go a long way in how you feel about yourself and also in how you relate to others.
What bit of luxury can you gift yourself with this week?
If you love chocolate, maybe treat yourself to a really high-quality piece. Or order the velvety, smooth wine that you love but that usually feels too indulgent. Perhaps this week you buy the beautiful flower arrangement or the gorgeous roses you always eye at the grocery store and arrange them on your desk, dining room table or nightstand. Maybe it's treating yourself to the pj set or lingerie or socks or linen or meal that you really adore but wouldn't usually spend the money on.
Luxury doesn't always have to equal a high price tag; there are plenty of ways to up the luxurious quotient in your life without spending a ton of money. Bubble baths, at-home facials, manicures, hair masks, teeth whitening, cooking a favorite recipe with high-quality ingredients - using your best crystal or china set to eat dinner, even burning the candle you love but want to "save" for a special occasion, walking the beach, curling up with a book and a soft blanket or turning off your phone for an hour can be powerful experiences of luxury.
What's your favorite go-to practice for increasing the feeling of luxury in your life?
Whether it’s love, good health, a solid relationship, serenity, freedom, a title, respect, or a certain number in the bank or on the scale - anything you chase will always be outside of you.
Apart from you.
A Perpetual Separation.
The energy of chasing by nature keeps you in pursuit and the desired "thing" running away from you. This creates more resistance & frustration and actually widens the gap between you and what you want.
