How many of us feel like we've been swimming in quicksand? We've been making moves, but those moves seem to get us nowhere fast. We've made plans and laid foundations but the payoff is slow or nonexistent. This feeling of being stuck is one of the most confusing to deal with and difficult to shake because nothing is necessarily wrong per se; life just seems to monotonously replay itself day after day like Groundhog Day.
How can we break up this tired pattern and breathe some fresh air into our lives? By creating space for new energy.
Energy stagnates and accumulates in heavy, familiar places which is why repeating old patterns and stories is our go-to default programming.
So what are some tangible ways to get unstuck?
1. Move 27 things. Ancient Feng shui wisdom prescribes moving 27 things as a way to shift energy. This works if you just pick up 27 things and put them back or if you move one thing 27 times. But chances are, once you start moving things, you will be inspired to edit and purge. Letting go of what no longer serves you is a beautiful practice that frees up physical space as well as mental space. Here's a schedule to help clear out stagnant energy - devoting a 10-minute power edit to these areas can really add up over a few weeks.2. Stop energy leaks. That gym membership you pay for every month but never use, the toxic, one-way street friendship, the social media accounts you follow for inspiration but really just make you feel bad about yourself- these are all energy leaks. These open tabs constantly run in the background of our daily lives and deplete our emotional, mental and financial energy. Start eliminating the blatant energy leaks - setting boundaries with or deleting the toxic friend from your circle, dealing with the unnecessary monthly recurring charges, cutting out the noise on social media that tells us we're not good enough - cleaning up these aspects of our lives will stop the leakages and help restore our energy so that we can use it to move forward and make room for new relationships and experiences.
3. Move. Just like our space needs to be cleaned to create room for new energy flow, our bodies need that reset as well. Sweat is one of the main ways in which the body detoxifies itself. The body accumulates toxins that can't be used which then act as a poison to the body - slowing metabolism, decreasing efficiency of cell growth and renewal, and negatively impacting blood pressure and blood sugar. When you're feeling stuck, try to just get moving - even if it's a 10-minute walk on your street. Exercise lights up all sorts of synapses in our brain and energetically clears out the body and mind. Move in a way that you love! Throw the ball with your child, dance in the living room, do a few sun salutations, go for a bike ride, swim, hula hoop - the best movement is whatever speaks to you and makes you feel joyful. If you just completely detest exercise, schedule a weekly trip to the steam room or infrared sauna so you still receive the physical and energetic benefits of a sweat detox. If those aren't available, try my detox bath recipe at home.
4. Raise your vibe with meditation, nature, sound, crystals or oils - you can read more in this blog post. Taking a few moments to recalibrate in these ways can help us return to homeostatis (balance within the body), break up outdated patterns and subconscious beliefs and restore a broader perspective to daily life.
I hope that these ideas help you reclaim some of your depleted energy. Is there something that always helps you when you feel stuck? Please share in the comments below!
Whether it’s love, good health, a solid relationship, serenity, freedom, a title, respect, or a certain number in the bank or on the scale - anything you chase will always be outside of you.
Apart from you.
A Perpetual Separation.
The energy of chasing by nature keeps you in pursuit and the desired "thing" running away from you. This creates more resistance & frustration and actually widens the gap between you and what you want.
